Ana -- I can relate! We have a Thai place we frequent in Portland, and I'm so in love with their green curry & chicken that I find it nearly impossible to order anything else. Fortunately, Dave will order other items (and get take-out from the other Thai place in the neighborhood), so my horizons have expanded at least a little!

Biscuit Girl -- Andale sounds like a wonderful place! I'll go follow the links and check out the restaurant's site. (Hmmm... do they post a tequila list online? :-))

If you ever get over here to the other Washington (DC, that is), you should go to a restaurant my husband I love called Andale. The chef visited Oaxaca several years ago and fell in love with it and the food. She came back to DC, closed her restaurant while she re-vamped it to become Andale. The food is WONDERFUL! And if Mrs. D is a tequila fan, she will be a very happy camper. Andale has over 50 different tequilas and several mescals.

I recently posted about Andale on my blog, check it out. There is a link to the restaurant in the post.

Thanks for this informative post. I know so very little about Mexican food. One restaurant here in Ottawa, the Lone Star Cafe, actually a tex-mex restaurant, offers a "nacho grande". I like it so much that when I go there, which is not often, I end up asking for the same thing because I just love it so much. Which means that my experience of Mexican food is basically 1 dish. Duh!

I think (and Chopper can correct me if I'm wrong) that technically speaking, Tequila is a subset of mescal, in that mescal is made from all sorts of agaves and tequila is made from one particular kind.

Not that I'm an expert. I just drink the stuff. :-)

Chopper,

> Most of the people I know (again, classmates excluded) who even know what a mole is, automatically assume it to be a dark sauce flavored with chocolate.

Did you know you can substitute voles and even prairie dogs (if you're really in a pinch) for moles in the sauce?

On a more serious note, I thought there was a difference between mescal and tequilla.
