Mrs. D Turns…
Today is Mrs. D’s birthday!
Five years ago we were both struggling our way through life in low paying theatre jobs. We met through mutual friends while doing shows, she was stage managing an excellent production of Sweeney Todd, while I was across town running lights for an equally great production of La Cage Aux Folles. In a town like Portland, where the theatre community is comparitively small, one can play “six degrees of seperation” and remove up to five of those degrees between anyone who ever worked there. So, when two of our actor friends that I had worked on a show earlier that year with ended up as the main characters in Sweeney Todd, one could almost say it was Kismet.
Five years and five birthdays later, after trial, tribulation, knocks, culinary school, and the occasional out-of-state move, we are looking to expand our horizons. Details will, of course, be forthcoming, but for now just keep the number 43 in mind…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRS. D!!

Happy Birthday Mrs. D! You’re a shade younger than me.
What a sweet entry. Kismet, indeed!
A very happy birthday to the Missus. I, for one, am looking forward to hearing all about the new adventures afoot. May the year to come be full of delicousness.
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday to a fellow July baby!
C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E ! ! !
Love to you, birthday girl.
Lots of warm wishes and happiness.
Awwwwwwwww….. thanks everyone! And thank you Chopper, baby!
My sneaky husband posted this while I was off at work. Now he’s off at work, so I get to sit at the computer tonight and play guessing games as to what he’s got planned for my belated birthay celebration tomorrow. Yes — this time he’s actually been able to keep a secret!
I don’t eant to give away any secrets, but I’d advise wearing a hat.
Or a french maid outfit (sorry, wrong thread :^)
Happy birthday!!
Yeah, now it’s your turn with the maid outfit, Mrs. D! J/K Happiest birthday wishes to you! And kudos to Chopper for posting this and keeping his secrets secret! Have a wonderful one!!
Have a great birthday. I will try hard not to be jealous of how young you are.
Hope you have a Very Happy Birthday! I have really enjoyed reading your blog for the past couple of months. (1st time that I have ever replied to any!)
Yay! More birthday wishes! Thanks, everyone! We had a pretty nice time, though it was interrupted by a two hour trip to the doctor’s office (not for me but for my mom.) I’ll post some details in a bit — soon as I get the worm guts off of my camera. (Five guesses as to what that means we did!)
PS to Teri: Comment any time! Nice to have you here!
A belated happy birthday to you, Miz D!
Worm guts? Given Chopper’s creative recipes and penchant for unique presentations, my mind is wondering in directions that I wish it wouldn’t…
Extended happy birthday wishes! Must be a young’un thing where you still want to celebrate. grin
Kimberly — nah, just a little fishin.’ I meant to post about it, but I’ve been up to my eyeballs in caregiving for my mother right now, as she’s got a nasty case of cellulitis.
Thanks, Kitchenmage! Heh. I’ll still celebrate when I’m ancient. It’s nice to have a day where you can get away with being a bit spoiled, don’t you think?
