Oh, look! A blog!
Mercy goodness.
Where the heck were we all weekend?
Seems our hosting service experienced what we like to call a “surprise.” SQL databases belly up, mail server down, two days of laborious rebuilding and here we are, at long last, back, and, and…
What’s this?
The last post is from November 2nd?
Aww, crap.
Ahem. Brief announcement: I will be restoring the last three posts shortly, each backdated to their appropriate release into the wild. And with a little luck, or perhaps a large amount of sweat and bacon elbow grease, comments on those posts will reappear as well. Cross fingers.
Have I mentioned yet that this sort of thing has been entirely too common around here of late?
PS: I’m unpacking my sewing supplies…

I saw a cPanel message either here or at deedop-a-lula, and knew you must be having a fine weekend. (Been there, done that, still haven’t learned to back up my SQL database regularly.) Glad you’re mostly back.
If my comments aren’t being preserved for posteriority, I’m not leaving any.
Hey, Kimberly, actually we did have a fine weekend away from the computer, hanging out with our genre buddies at Orycon, but every time we got back to the house… no server & no email. And yeah, lesson learned on SQL databasees. This is the first time the hosting service has actually lost data; I hope it’ll be the last, but I will attempt to establish my own backup schedule, just in case.
CC: you wound me! Oh, wait, posteriority. Geez, I’m an ass!
For wordpress there is a convenient backup-plugin,

Sewing supplies, you say? Can’t wait to hear more :-)
If it helps, our phone line has been down for over a week. Then the phone company said they fixed it. It worked. Then, it stopped working. We waited another three days. We realized the phone had somehow gotten unplugged. Duh. At least it wasn’t YOUR fault!
I hope all is back to *normal* for you soon!
Hey, thanks, birx! Bookmarked. :-)
Kathy: ooooh, the fabric. I have so much fabric. I’m a fabric junky.
Oh, augh, Michelle, that sucks! Also, been there done that on the whole “oops, unplugged” thing. I totally botched blogging our last vacation with my inability to figure out what switch to throw to get my new lappy to connect to the web. Duh, indeed!
